Guidelines for better environmental management

The 7th IMS breakfast provided practical tips for implementing ISO 14001:2015.

The requirements of the environmental management system standard ISO 14001:2015 are not always easy to understand. At the now  7.IMS breakfast , Jana Brauweiler and Anke Zenker-Hoffmann explained how the requirements for an environmental management system can be implemented pragmatically with the help of the ISO 14004 and 14031 guidelines.

On the one hand, this was demonstrated on the basis of the roles, responsibilities and authorizations to be defined in the environmental management system. The companies reported on how their top management is involved in the environmental management system and which organizational and communication structures have proven to be effective.

In the second example, practical aids for recording and evaluating environmental aspects and performance were discussed. The criteria and level of detail used by companies to measure their environmental impact and the environmental indicators used to illustrate improvements were discussed.

Under the heading "Did you know", Nino Gehler, a student on the "Ecology and Environmental Protection" Bachelor's degree course, presented the "Urban Gardening" cooperation project between the HSZG, the city of Zittau and Zittau schools, combined with a short walk to the Amaliengarten in beautiful summer weather.

Finally, Henry Schmidt, Sales Area Manager of the Central/Eastern Region of TÜV-Rheinland Akademie GmbH Dresden, explained which offers companies can use to further develop their most important potential, their employees. An IMS training series will be added to the product portfolio, which TÜV Rheinland Akademie GmbH Dresden and the Chair of Integrated Management Systems have launched together with ZWT.
