The project "New media to support self-organized e-learning processes in the STEM sector" (09/2016 to 08/2018 funded by the European Social Fund) involved the development, testing and implementation of innovative approaches to make better use of the potential of e-learning. The focus was on measures to promote self-organized learning processes and various key skills (media skills, learning skills, etc.), which are becoming increasingly important in terms of lifelong learning. At the heart of the project is the integrated workshop "thermoSOL".
This teaching-learning concept aims to support students in the self-learning phases of the individual subjects and individual learning challenges. With thermoSOL, students train the targeted selection and application of learning materials, the independent application and review of acquired knowledge and the derivation of action requirements to achieve learning objectives in combination with learner communication in virtual space in a module of their regular studies. The newly developed approaches were tested in cooperation with the Department of Technical Thermodynamics (Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. H.-J. Kretschmar). Further information and the results of the project, e.g. recommendations for action on e-assessment in the STEM field, optimization of the online test software ONYX, DEMO course in OPAL, are presented on the project website.
