On 23.09.20, the HSZG presented itself at the kick-off for HFD peer-to-peer strategy consulting.
Following a successful application, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) was one of six universities to start the peer-to-peer strategy consultation of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) on 23.09.2020. Experts will now support the HSZG in its strategic approach to digital teaching and learning for one year.
The kick-off event held at the end of September allowed the university representatives of this peer-to-peer format to get to know each other and discuss their strategic processes in the field of digitalization of higher education as well as the first steps in peer-to-peer consulting.
During the presentation, the HSZG made it clear that our university in the heart of Europe has great potential, pursues innovative goals and faces particular challenges.
The focus is on the digital world of work as well as educational equality, access and openness. In line with the HSCG's research focus on "Transformation processes in business and society", the university's strategic goal is to establish itself as a partner of 'lifelong learning' in order to help ensure that skilled workers in the region can continuously produce new innovations in their companies. Another strategic goal is to strengthen the economic and social relevance of our degree programs. For this reason, cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses are to be developed that integrate technical, economic, social and ecological innovation qualities.
The HSZG associates the strategy process in the area of digitalization of studies and teaching with extensive goals and the implementation of measures to increase the attractiveness of the study location and for quality assurance. This includes, for example, the development of new formats (microdegree programs), which contain unique selling points and strengthen the social relevance of our educational offerings. Another focus area is the establishment of measures to develop skills and support teaching staff in the implementation of measures to digitalize studying and teaching.
In the next step, the HSZG working group "Digital Higher Education" (consisting of the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, members of the Education Unit, the Center for Knowledge Transfer and Education and the Center for e-Learning) will draw up a so-called self-report to describe the university in the relevant points. This report serves as a working basis for the HFD experts and forms the basis for the peer-to-peer preliminary consultation planned for the first quarter.
