#HSZGChristmas tree challenge

Take part in the "Sustainable Christmas tree challenge" from the climate podcast team!

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences climate podcast "Green stuff against the apocalypse" has been online since the beginning of November! Six episodes have now been published. So shortly before Christmas, it makes sense to focus on the topic of "Sustainable Christmas". The latest episode, entitled "Santa's Climate Change Workshop", is therefore dedicated to the question of how to make Christmas environmentally friendly.

In the sixth episode, the central questions of the season are first discussed: Which Christmas tree is the right one? What are the advantages and disadvantages of real or artificial trees? What sustainable alternatives are there that are both ecologically and aesthetically pleasing?

We continue with the Christmas decorations. From traditional baubles to modern plastic frippery -  sheds light on how to decorate the tree in an environmentally friendly way without sacrificing festive splendor. What would Christmas be without presents? Sustainable gift ideas are presented that not only bring joy to the recipient, but also to the planet. From homemade gifts to regional products, there is something for everyone.

Unfortunately, the holidays are also a time of waste. We also look at waste production and increased electricity consumption during the Christmas period and give practical tips on how to reduce both. Finally, the heart of every Christmas celebration is addressed: the festive meal. Whether traditional goose or vegetarian alternatives, we discuss how to prepare a delicious and sustainable Christmas meal.

The climate protection management team has launched a Christmas tree challenge to coincide with the Christmas episode.
