Two contributions to the engineering education conference

The 13th Engineering Education Regional Conference took place this year at Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

In June 2018, the 13th Engineering Education Regional Conference of the Engineering Education Science Society took place at Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

The main topic was "Diversity and cultural diversity - differentiate, individualize - or integrate?". This was dealt with on the basis of current research and teaching contributions, reports and illustrative practical examples. Two contributions were presented by employees of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in the form of lectures.

On the one hand, the contribution: "thermoSOL" - An integrated workshop approach to support self-organized learning processes in the Technical Thermodynamics module by Ronny Freudenreich and Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Hans-Joachim Kretzschmar. The presentation introduced the didactic concept "thermoSOL", which was integrated into the Technical Thermodynamics module and further developed and evaluated as part of the e-teaching certificate program at TU Dresden. In the second part, the first evaluation results from the trial were presented and an outlook on the sustainable implementation of the experience gained was given.

On the other hand, the contribution: "I pack my method suitcase and take with me..." - Subject-specific knowledge and social-communicative skills for industrial engineers by Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Sophia Keil and Daniel Winkler. In this lecture, the first results of a new teaching/learning concept in the Manufacturing Management course were presented. In particular, the application of the flipped classroom method, the cooperation of interdisciplinary lecturers, the teaching material-time problem and exemplary teaching were discussed and practical tips were also given.

Impressionen des Abstracts: »Ich packe meinen Methodenkoffer und nehme mit…« – fachspezifische Kenntnisse und sozial-kommunikative Kompetenz für Wirtschaftsingenieure.

You can read the full abstracts of the two papers here.

In summary, the Engineering Pedagogy Regional Conference once again offered many opportunities to discuss the topics of technical education, engineering education, etc. and to further expand personal networks in addition to rich scientific contributions.
