Connecting common perspectives

The connection between university and business in Zittau/Görlitz is particularly evident at the 15th "Business meets Science" event.

On January 11, 2024, the 15th "Business meets Science" event took place at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, which was dedicated to the topic of "Attracting academic specialists with Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences". Experts from business and science came together to discuss the recruitment of skilled workers and regional development.

Education paves the way for skilled workers

The event focused on the wide range of educational opportunities on offer. There was a particular focus on dual study programs and attractive apprenticeships as well as the importance of close cooperation between universities and companies. This cooperation is crucial in order to promote practice-oriented education and meet the requirements of the job market.

Another important point of discussion was the attractiveness of the region for young people and skilled workers. It was made clear that a welcoming environment is crucial to attracting and retaining talent for the region, which in turn is of great importance for economic and social development.

The Dresden Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Dresden Chamber of Skilled Crafts highlighted their role and commitment at federal, state and local level. This underlines the importance of the chambers of commerce in supporting companies and skilled workers.

Employee health as a priority

Employee health was a key topic at the event. In view of increasing workloads and demographic challenges, a healthy working environment is becoming more and more important.

Information stands and networking opportunities

Additional information on initiatives such as the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences support association, HiLusatia and KIA - the dual study program at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences - was presented at various information stands.

The "Business meets Science" event proved to be an important platform for dialog between the university and the regional economy.
