It is simply full of variety

The trainees at HSZG report on the start of their training.

Ludwig Droigk (19), Daniel Usemann (18) and Erik Schlenkrich (20) began their training as electronics technicians for devices and systems at the HSZG at the start of the apprenticeship year and thus started a dual course of study at this university. At the same time, Julia Lachmann (19) and Laura Elsner (23) also began their training as office management assistants.

While the trainee electronics technicians switch back and forth between their studies and training, the two trainee business administrators swap departments at the university at regular intervals. Both agree that this is a great advantage of the HSZG.

"Thanks to the different faculties and departments, the HSZG offers a lot of variety. You don't sit in the office for three years staring at the same wall," says Laura. The former student has already worked in the secretariat of the Faculty of Economics and Industrial Engineering"I took care of the mail here. I got to know how the faculty's website is designed and I learned what applications there are and what they are used for. Apart from that, I did what I had to do, which, like the training itself, is totally different."

Julia did not work in a secretariat or in one of the university's departments up to and including December. "I was in public relations. In addition to conducting interviews and writing articles, I also worked a lot on the university's website and various tasks in preparation for the University Information Day were also part of my job. It's definitely different from the tasks in the secretariats and departments, but I think that's great. In public relations, you had completely different tasks to do."

Even though the trainee electronics technicians were not yet involved in the practical part at the beginning, they are already looking forward to being able to apply their theoretical knowledge there.
Erik hopes to find a good change from his studies in the practical part. In addition to sport, the 20-year-old has always been interested in mechatronics and working with computers.  While he is more interested in programming, Ludwig is particularly looking forward to soldering and building circuits. Like the other trainees, the 19-year-old wanted to stay close to home.

"I was looking for a KIA course and that's how I came across the HSZG. As my parents know someone from HSZG, I was given a guided tour. I didn't know beforehand that there was also a training workshop here. I was shown this during the tour and found it interesting," says Ludwig. For the student, the good working atmosphere and the working hours are also reasons why he would recommend the university to others. Erik also notes that the university is more familiar to him, which is why he would recommend it to others.

Having theory and practice in one place has a special appeal for the students. Daniel switched from a direct course of study to the KIA variant at the university for this reason. The student likes to tinker with various things in his free time and came into contact with electrical components in the process. This awakened in him the desire to expand his skills and knowledge in this area, which was also a reason for the apprenticeship. The three trainee electronics technicians get on well with each other and Ludwig mentions that there is also a good atmosphere between the individual years of training.

Even though the five trainees got off to different starts, they are all excited and looking forward to their time at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
