New series of events at the HSZG on the topic of "Integrated management systems"
At the invitation of TÜV Rheinland Akademie GmbH and the Chair of Integrated Management Systems (IMS) at the HSZG, around 20 representatives from companies, service providers and the university met on April 16, 2015 to kick off the new "IMS Breakfast" event series.
"The establishment of such a series of colloquia with the university is also a pilot project for us," says Jens Enderlein, Account Manager at TÜV Rheinland Akademie GmbH. The concept is as follows: Current specialist information is provided on a topic relating to integrated management systems, followed by a report from a company on its experience of implementing this as part of its management system. Both form the basis for the exchange of experience in the implementation of legal, technological or management system-related requirements, for example. The aim is to develop a small regional network in the field of IMS that works on specific projects and consists of practitioners, university lecturers, students and consultants.
The first breakfast was held on the topic of "Energy Management". As an introduction, Anke Zenker-Hoffmann from the HSZG explained the currently possible "privileges/benefits/subsidies in energy law and the role of energy management systems and energy audits". Corinna Neumann, management representative for quality, environment and energy and safety specialist at Ploucquet GmbH and graduate of the "Ecology and Environmental Protection" degree course at HSZG, then reported on her experiences in introducing, maintaining and certifying an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001.
In the subsequent round of talks, difficulties of implementation, such as the establishment of a suitable measuring point system for the precise recording of energy consumption as well as best practice examples from the companies for continuous sensitization, information and training of employees in the context of operational energy management were discussed, and the representatives of TÜV Rheinland (Academy and Industry Services) were able to briefly present consulting and support options and cooperation in this area through the various divisions (consulting, training/continuing education, certification). In the "Did you know?" category, students from the new "Integrated Management Systems" Master's degree course presented their course content and offers for companies for cooperation in the form of theory-practice transfer projects, internships, Bachelor's and Master's theses.
The comparative recording and evaluation of energy data at industry level, the development of company-specific measurement concepts for energy consumption recording or a guideline with information and communication tools in the energy sector are the first concrete topics on which students and companies can now continue to work together. Incidentally, during the breakfast, individual company exchanges were also agreed and offers of practical assignments were made by companies to students. A productive morning, or as one company representative summed it up: "I really enjoyed it!".
The 2nd IMS breakfast will take place on 11.6.2015 on the topic of "Revision ISO 9001".
