One-Time Energy Cost Reimbursement for Students – Information on Payment
Enrolled students can apply for a one-off payment of 200 euros from March 15.
Enrolled students with permanent residence or habitual abode in Germany can apply for a one-off payment of 200 euros from March 15, 2023.
Rising energy prices are a major burden for students. The Federal Act on the Payment of a One-off Energy Price Lump Sum for Students (EPPSG) came into force on December 21, 2022.
This law provides for the one-off payment of 200 euros to enrolled students and enrolled doctoral students who had their permanent residence or habitual abode in the Federal Republic of Germany on the cut-off date of December 1, 2022.
Applications for the payment can be submitted from March 15, 2023 via the centrally provided internet portal www.einmalzahlung200.de.

What are the eligibility requirements?
I am eligible if I was enrolled as of December 1, 2022, and my place of residence or permanent residence was in the Federal Republic of Germany on December 1, 2022.
How can I apply for the lump-sum payment?
You can submit your application online starting March 15, 2023, at www.einmalzahlung200.de. (You’ll also find all the details and important information about the application process there.)
What do I need to apply?
As an eligible person, the HSZG will provide you with your personal login details for eCampus (You’ll find the access code directly on the homepage of your eCampus portal (Student Cockpit) under the button "My Eligibility Code for the 200-Euro One-Time Payment." Your PIN letter is available as a PDF document under the menu item Student Services >> tab: Notices/Certificates.)
Information: As an alternative to the PIN, you can also use your eID or Elster certificate. The access code is always required.
You’ll also need a BundID account and a digital proof of identity. You can set up your BundID account in advance at https://id.bund.de/de/registration/eID.
How does the application process work?
- Start the application process (access code and PIN).
- Verify your identity (using your BundID account).
- Enter your contact and account information into the form.
- Your application will be reviewed. You will then receive a notification of approval via email. After that, the energy allowance will be transferred to the specified account.
ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL:
- enrolled as of December 1, 2022
- residing in or having their habitual residence in Germany as of December 1, 2022
- Doctoral students, students who have already withdrawn from the university, part-time students, Erasmus students, and students pursuing their studies alongside a job are also eligible
- In some cases, individuals in two different roles (e.g., employee and student) may be eligible
NOT ELIGIBLE:
- Non-degree seeking guest student
- Participants in preparatory courses
PLEASE NOTE:
- Each person may submit only one application, even if they receive two access codes due to their enrolment at two universities. For example, students enrolled in multiple programs or part-time students are eligible only once, but will likely receive two access codes. In such cases, it is recommended to include information to this effect in the cover letter.
