Campus talk in Chinese
In the campus talk 'hello@hszg', Xue Fan from China talks about what he particularly likes about studying at the HSZG and what hobby he has discovered for himself.
Xue Fan is enthusiastic about German cuisine and his studies at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The 22-year-old is from China and has been at HSZG for just under three months to study mechatronics. This opportunity is made possible by the exchange program of the Sino-German University of Applied Sciences (CDHAW), in which the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences participates.
“The CDHAW is an institution within Tongji University in the heart of the metropolis of Shanghai,” explains Xue Fan. The 26 German partner universities of the German University Consortium for International Cooperation—which has included the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences since the CDHAW’s founding—participate in both academic collaboration and student exchanges as part of a dual-degree program.
Students like Xue Fan from China have the opportunity to come to HSZG to study as part of this cooperation. Since 2007, up to ten mechatronics students have taken advantage of this opportunity each year. What does he particularly enjoy about it? “That I can study here together with my friends,” says the mechatronics student. The five Chinese students currently at HSZG especially enjoy cooking together.
Were there any particular challenges? “The courses in German,” he admits with a smile. “But my friends and I have received good support from the professors and our fellow students.”
He already has plans for the future. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he would like to earn his master’s degree in Germany as well.
