Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences worked together with 10 universities in the HOCH-N joint project from 2016 to 2020. The project was launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in order to better embed sustainability at universities. HOCH-N brings together long-standing experts in the field of sustainability and education for sustainable development at universities. The results are a cross-university mission statement for a sustainable university as well as guidelines for encouraging and implementing sustainable development in the fields of sustainability reporting, governance, teaching, research, operations and transfer.
The DG HochN supports the implementation of the UNESCO program "Education for Sustainable Development for 2030" and is committed to the whole-institution approach. It also pursues the overarching goal of ensuring that sustainable development at universities becomes a visible and effective expression of their work in research, teaching, operations, governance, transfer and reporting in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The DG HochN aims to put the impact of the HochN, Virtual Academy for Sustainability and netzwerk n projects, as well as other regional and local activities, on a solid footing and further develop a sustainable higher education landscape.
