Experience the "Long Night of Science" in Upper Lusatia on July 1.
Science institutions in Görlitz and Zittau invite you to join them on July 1 for the "OHA! Science Adventure" on July 1st. Under this motto, institutes and universities in both cities will open their doors from 4 p.m. and present their work in demonstrations, experiments, lectures and many hands-on activities. The thematic spectrum ranges from live hacking of a computer and immersion in the fascinating world of soil animals to the feeling of being inside the body of an elderly person. The detailed program is available at: www.abenteuer-wissenschaft.de.
"We want to give the citizens of the region an understanding of the enormous variety of topics in our research institutions and show how we develop answers to social questions and challenges of the future," explains University Rector Prof. Alexander Kratzsch.
He adds: "We hope for intensive discussions and can certainly get one or two people excited about science."
"The idea of a joint research night was born at the beginning of the year and developed further by a working group from various institutes. The target group also includes children - because they are the researchers of tomorrow - there is definitely a lot to marvel at." promises Raj Kollmorgen, Vice-Rector for Research at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and initiator of the event.
A total of nine institutions are taking part in "OHA! Science Adventure". In both Zittau and Görlitz, the event will end at central locations with a special closing program lasting into the night. Admission is free of charge.
