On October 11, 2023, the opening of the Science Year 2023/2024 took place at the HSCG.
The opening of the Science Year 2023/2024 took place this year on the campus in Görlitz.
The TRAWOS Institute was well represented. After being welcomed by the Rector Prof. Alexander Kratzsch, Jan Schaller, research associate in the Elitenmonitor project and TRAWOS member, presented his promotions. Schaller, research associate in the Elitenmonitor project and TRAWOS member, presented his doctoral project. Under the title "Turning point at Europe's external borders? - Trends in the governance of irregular migration since 2015", he gave a brief insight into current research on the topic. A number of questions from the audience showed the relevance of this topic.
Afterwards, the head of the TRAWOS Institute, Dr. Julia Gabler, was part of the lively panel discussion "Pros and cons: New regional fields of research after the turn of an era? Challenges between military research, climate and regional structural change " - chaired by Cordula Lasner-Tietze, also a TRAWOS member.
The event concluded with a presentation by the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Raj Kollmorgen, in which he outlined the current social upheavals and challenges from a sociological perspective, rounding off a successful and stimulating event.
