The 7th Federal Congress on Interculture took place from September 13 to 15, 2023 at the Neues Palais in Potsdam under the theme "Spaces of Participation - Spaces of Action". As part of the congress, the expert forum "Border Spaces" was held, which was organized in cooperation with the Centre for International Cultural Education of the Goethe-Institut Dresden and the Brandenburg Society for Culture and History - Platform Cultural Education Brandenburg.

The expert forum dealt with the interactions between cultural and political education and offered space for the presentation of practical projects and the exchange of best practices. Various initiatives, including "Nowa Amerika", "1000 und deine Sicht", Haus der Sozialen Vielfalt e.V., Rapper ohne Grenzen, "Debate not argue" and the Genshagen Foundation, presented their work in the context of this specialist forum.

In her keynote speech entitled "Agency instead of powerlessness: Agency and (cultural) participation in border areas", Emilia Socha, who works on the TRAWOS project BePart - Participation and Partnerships in Structural Change, highlighted the research topics of the TRAWOS Institute and emphasized the dynamics created by cultural border crossers in the Polish-Czech-German border region. During her keynote speech, Emilia Socha formulated recommendations for action, which were later discussed in a focused discussion round.
