New institute director at TRAWOS

Prof. Dr. Eckehard Binas has been the new Institute Director since July 1, 2020.

Prof. Dr. Eckehard Binas

Prof. Dr. Eckehard Binas took over as Director of the TRAWOS Institute from Prof. Kollmorgen on July 1, 2020. The sociologist Prof. Dr. Raj Kollmorgen, under whose leadership numerous social science research projects on social change processes have been implemented at the institute since March 2016, has been Vice-Rector Research at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences since March 2020. He will continue to work at TRAWOS as Deputy Director and Project Manager. Prof. Binas, who co-founded transformation research on structurally weak regions at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, already headed the TRAWOS Institute for Transformation, Housing and Social Spatial Development from March 2012 to January 2013, before taking on the elective office of President of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences for six years.
