Workshop: "Toxic masculinity - drop-out program for beginners" on 12.06.
Under the heading "Toxic masculinity - dropout program for beginners", a workshop took place on 12 June, which was led by Christoph May from the Detox Masculinity Institute on the premises of the HSZG. May gave an insight into the examination of questions about current ideas of masculinity and the associated social conflicts.
At the event, various points and perspectives were listed under the main topics of "men's alliances", "male fantasies" & "critical masculinity", which are in the context of eliminating power imbalances. It became clear that patriarchy and the associated privileges of men are always in the background of all social dynamics and should be reflected upon by them in order to create equal rights and a more diverse living environment.
"The participants philosophized and debated current challenges facing individuals and society. There is a lot in this controversial topic that is not easy to convey, so there was a lot of speculation and discussion. A good dose of humor helped, which in my view should not be missing in connection with self-reflection."
"I think it's a good idea to talk about "male limits" instead of "female quotas" because it draws attention to those responsible for the slow progress in gender equality."
