The somewhat different opening of the CELSIUZ

We welcome many interested parties despite last-minute rescheduling.

We had been planning and preparing for a long time. By the middle of the year, it was already clear that no major events could be held indoors in October. So the idea was this: We would open CELSIUZ for the entire calendar week 44, every day for a limited number of people from one target group. And there will always be a small, fine program tailored to the guests.

An advertisement in the Sächsische Zeitung brought us into contact with Mr. Thümmler, the former plant manager of the Mandauhöfe. An exhibition corner on the history of the building was set up with items on loan from his collection.
Over the last few weeks, we had already suspected that we should reduce the number of people again and offer a live stream. So we got to work, prepared and announced this too.

After the corona numbers in the district rose, important guests canceled and we were decimated in the team, we unfortunately had to make the difficult decision on Monday that we would cancel the face-to-face events. As there was nothing left to livestream due to the cancellation, that was also canceled. What we did have left was the beautiful light installation from _stroystudio in Liberec. The people of Zittau were able to marvel at the fact that something is moving in the city; in the old building of the former Schubert factory, which reminds many of Zittau's textile history.

We also offered guided tours of the CELSIUZ in small groups of no more than five people every half hour to at least give the curious a taste of what to expect.

Our conclusion:

Surprisingly positive. The light installation was a hit!
We often think about how we can introduce the people of Upper Lusatia to the university's research, how we can make the university accessible and understandable. We obviously succeeded here. Astonished children's eyes, sentimental stories about the former working day in our new premises and a great response from all walks of life.

The guided tours through CELSIUZ were very popular and we have already welcomed over 70 people, which makes us extremely happy. Because one thing is clear - people bring life to CELSIUZ!
That's why it's so important: are you having a project meeting, expecting a business visit or simply want to work creatively for a day in a different environment? Please contact us to reserve a room (see contact below), we look forward to your visit.

As of this week, you can also find CELSIUZ on the Internet: www.CELSIUZ.de
Rooms will soon be bookable directly on the website.

See you soon at CELSIUZ!
