iTN junior research group presents project at 12th landfill workshop.
From November 3 to 4, the 12th Landfill Workshop was jointly organized by the Institute of Mechatronics and Computer Engineering (MTI) of the Technical University in Liberec (TUL) and the Institute for Process Development, Peat and Natural Materials Research (iTN) of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) as part of the project TESEUS project, was held in the new auditorium of the TU Liberec. Speakers from practice, authorities and research institutions contributed to the joint discussion and interesting discussions with their presentations. The approximately 100 participants showed cross-border interest in the topic of "landfill as a last resort" and in current issues arising from the hierarchy of waste management.
As part of the landfill workshop, the iTN's junior researchers, who have been working since July 2016, presented their previous approaches to the project topic "Sustainable use of soil resources" to experts for discussion. The cross-university junior research group consists of four graduates from different engineering and environmental study programs. The aim of the interdisciplinary collaboration is to develop engineering processes for the use of technogenic soils in earthworks. The following sub-goals are being addressed:
Project partners:
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences - iTN (Process Engineering) - Prof. Dr.-Ing. Schoenherr (Project Manager)
Dresden University of Applied Sciences (Civil Engineering) - Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Engel
Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, (Hydrogeology) - PD Dr. habil. Dunger
University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz - F-N (Soil Science) - Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Schulz
The 13th Landfill Workshop will take place in Zittau in November 2017.
Interested parties are cordially invited to make a note of the date!
