On February 12, 2020, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch received the certificate of appointment as Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences for the term of office from March 1, 2020 to February 28, 2025 at the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism. The certificate was presented to him by State Secretary Andrea Franke.
Prof. Kratzsch was elected Rector by the Extended Senate of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences on November 15, 2019. The election was based on a nomination submitted to the Extended Senate by the Chair of the University Council, Prof. Dr.-Ing.
Ultimately, his constructive, determined and committed work at the university, but above all his work as Director of the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Measurement Technology as well as his convincing ideas and visions for the future of the university probably contributed to his election.
During a public introduction to the university, he assured the audience that he would continue the policy he had begun for the future of the university in all important areas. He sees the university's development plan and the target agreement with the SMWK as the basis and guideline for his actions. His declared objectives also include further intensifying the university's impact in and for the region. This includes a further improvement in knowledge and technology transfer, even closer cooperation with companies and non-university institutions in the region, the districts and municipalities.
He is also keen to improve communication within the university as a whole and between the two university locations. He would like to achieve this above all through even closer cooperation between the faculties of both university locations.
