(Self-learning) Digital Workspace (for teachers): Designing and integrating e-assessments: Tips and tools for teachers

E-assessments are used to assess the level of knowledge of learners and enable teachers to select learning content accordingly, define focal points, plan learning opportunities, select methods and form learning groups. The workspace provides an insight into the topic, helps with the targeted selection of tools and shows possibilities for transfer.

Begin 07. October 2024 - 09:30 Uhr
End 18. December 2024 - 13:00 Uhr

E-assessments are used to assess the level of knowledge of learners and enable teachers to select learning content accordingly, set priorities, plan learning opportunities, choose methods and form learning groups. With diagnostic assessments, for example in the form of placement tests for preliminary courses, self-tests for course selection or entrance examinations before internships, as well as formative assessments to determine the level of knowledge and learning progress within a course, such formats provide valuable information for the design of further teaching-learning processes. The integration of electronic exercises and tests into teaching enables lecturers to adapt their teaching to suit requirements.

This digital workspace offers:

  • an introduction to the didactic principles of e-assessments as well as an introduction to the functions of diagnostic and formative assessments
  • Impulses for the implementation of assessments and good practice examples from the university landscape
  • Support in the design and testing of e-assessment formats in your own teaching

Learning objectives

Once you have taken advantage of all the offerings of this Digital Workspace, you will be able to

  • name the general functions of diagnostic and formative assessment,
  • derive possible applications of electronic assessment forms for teaching,
  • name established tools for electronic testing approaches in teaching and implement tests technically,
  • design electronic tests for your courses,
  • identify the potential implications of assessment results and derive concrete options for action as a consequence of your own assessments.

What is a digital workspace?
In open workshop formats, all stakeholders involved in the implementation of teaching at the partner universities (see below) can work on the conception and development of digital media-supported teaching-learning scenarios. By drawing on a wide range of expertise and exchanging ideas with peers, they not only expand their individual skills, but also directly implement a specifically planned project in the field of digital university teaching. This creates direct added value for the teachers themselves and the universities as a whole.
