Vote on the Micro Teaching Videos of the industrial engineering students!

Students become teachers

As part of the "Learning in order to learn" project, students become teachers in Professor Sophia Keil's "Flipped Classroom". Thanks to the innovative e-learning methods used there, the budding industrial engineers in the "Manufacturing Management" course not only increase their technical knowledge of the subject, but also their communication and teamwork skills, their ability to convey complex content and - indispensable nowadays - their media skills.

For the first time in the summer semester of 2018, students were given the task of producing a "Micro Teaching Video" (MTV), i.e. a short educational video, on a manufacturing management topic. Research, conception, planning, the filming itself and the editing of the video were entirely in the hands of the students. A three-person interdisciplinary team of lecturers consisting of Professor Sophia Keil, Daniel Winkler (Learning to Learn) and Christiane Matthieu (Video Marketing in the Public Relations Department) were on hand to provide input and feedback at every stage.

Burned into the mind

Florian Rönsch, one of the two creators of the Lego animated film explaining the TPM method, found the innovative teaching and learning methods to be absolutely beneficial:

"It was a very pleasant change from the usual university routine, where you could practice project-oriented work alongside creative pursuits."

He adds with a grin:

"I'll also never forget the TPM method because it was literally burned into my head through the shoot and during editing."

Just in time for the start of the new summer semester and the start of the new manufacturing management course, you can now vote on the educational videos created last year. Which of the MTVs linked below entertains, conveys and convinces you the most?

Click and win

Thenumber of clicks will decide the winner. The producers of the video with the most clicks two weeks from today, on April 2 at 3 p.m., will win an application photo shoot with university photographer Jens Freudenberg and cinema vouchers for the Zittauer Kronenkino .

So click and share the video you like best and tell your friends and family about the successful MTVs that reveal one or two secrets about quality management and increasing production and productivity.

Also keep your eyes peeled for the next MTVs that the next class of future industrial engineers will produce this summer semester.
