In the course of the project, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences aims to build up expertise in issues relating to the operation of DC grids in order to take on a leading national and international role in the implementation of DC grids in distribution grid structures.

The aim is to address specific topics relating to the development of DC distribution grid structures, including

  • grid operation,
  • insulation coordination,
  • and the grid connection.

The job holder (m/f/d) will be responsible for the following tasks in particular:

  • Determination of suitable operating voltages for DC medium-voltage and high-voltage networks,
  • Development of requirements for the connection of DC networks to AC networks,
  • Insulation coordination in DC network structures,
  • Development of principles of DC voltage and power control in the grid when implementing generation and consumption systems,
  • Identification of possibilities for the provision of system services at the AC connection point,
  • Development of grid calculation models to investigate various operating scenarios and possible fault conditions,
  • Development of technical standards and
  • simulation of DC grid structures.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed, preferably scientific university degree in the field of electrical engineering with specialization in the field of energy systems,
  • Practical professional experience, in particular special knowledge in the areas of grid calculation and measurement in distribution grids,
  • practical knowledge or experience with MatLab, Python and PSCAD, in carrying out measurements and simulating transient balancing processes and
