Can the alcohol level also be determined conclusively on the breath? Professor Matthias Schmidt and his team find out.
Anyone who is over the limit during a breath test in road traffic must have their blood taken. This establishes the alcohol level in the body in such a way that it will stand up in court. However, taking a blood sample is an intrusion into physical integrity, sometimes takes a very long time and therefore falsifies the result.
Prof. Matthias Schmidt from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the HSZG and Prof. Dieter Müller from the Rothenburg Police University have set themselves the goal of developing a breath alcohol test that makes blood sampling superfluous in the research project "Evidence-proof standardization of breath alcohol levels".
Prof. Müller's motivation seems clear. But why is Matthias Schmidt, Professor of Work & Organizational Psychology, interested in the topic? Hint: He deals with accident minimization in the workplace.
The answer can be found in our third video on preliminary research at the HSZG:
In a new video series, we show the diversity of preliminary research at the HSZG. These research projects are made possible with funding from the Saxon State Parliament.
