Theses in demand

Award-winning Bachelor's theses from the Faculty of Social Sciences published in the social economy portal.

With the two award-winning Bachelor's theses by Lena Gawalski: "The transition from long-term unemployment to the primary labor market" and Anais Schicht: "It was all new - the language, the culture, the school system", a total of seven award-winning theses from the Faculty of Social Sciences have now been published on the largest specialist portal for the social economy under the Materials section.

As the subtitle of Anais Schicht's thesis makes clear, it deals with "Challenges in the transition from adolescence to adulthood for young women with migration and refugee biographies in the context of social work". She shows that young people and adolescents with experience of migration and flight naturally also have to shoulder the specific challenges of the transition from adolescence to adulthood in addition to the consequences of flight or migration experiences, which is why these adolescents and young adults experience the situation of flight and displacement as a double burden.

What makes the work particularly worth reading - and which is probably why socialnet decided to include an extra note on the first page of its newsletter - is the fact that Anais Schicht conducted an interview with a 23-year-old young woman who grew up in Syria in order to gain a more comprehensive insight into the lives of young women with a migration and/or refugee biography. In this interview, Shabnan impressively describes how she experiences the transition phase, the particular challenges she faces, but also the opportunities she has been given.

Anais Schicht was also one of two scholarship holders of the Deutschlandstipendium at the Faculty of Social Sciences in the winter semester 2021/2022.
