From September 27 to 28, 2018, an international conference on "Current paradigms in research on translation and interpreting. Opportunities and challenges".
The organizers: the University of Wroclaw and the University of Warsaw have invited academics from Ukraine, France, Spain, Austria, Germany and Poland to discuss various aspects of translation. Research, theories, forecasts on topics such as: Specialized Translation, Translation Industry, Translator's mind, Translation as a means and goal of teaching, Audiovisual translation, Translator's competence and translation teaching were completed and verified by the theorists and practitioners from the translation industry.
Prof. Dr. phil. Małgorzata Maćkowiak from the Business and Languages degree program chaired a panel discussion on Artistic Translation, which focused on the topics of the so-called third culture and onomastics in literature and film. Renowned but also many young researchers from Europe presented old and newly defined paradigms of translation studies, debated their research results, compared instruments, paths and perspectives of traductology. It was a breath of fresh air that reached Görlitz!
