Architecture students from Tokyo researched half-timbered house construction in Upper Lusatia.
News of the unique regional architecture of the Umgebindehaus, which is the subject of the work of the Umgebindehaus Information Center at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences(umgebindehaus.hszg.de), has even reached Japan.
Two Japanese graduates of the bachelor's degree program in architecture at Hosei University in Tokyo were guests in the region and provided information on the half-timbered house construction construction.
Among other things, Rin SHINZAWA and Daikichi ISHIMOTO visited the Umgebindehaus Information Center at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to talk to Dr. Liane Vogel about the possibilities of energy-efficient renovation of these houses .
The two visitors have now arrived safely back in Japan. They are grateful for the warm welcome and would like to compile their findings into a report that promotes our region and its special construction methods.
